The year in a nutshell: 2025

I have never been great with resolutions. I have never believed much in setting grand, sweeping goals at the start of the year. What I am good at, though, is tracking progress, examining what worked, understanding what didn’t, and making thoughtful plans to do better.

Looking back, 2025 didn’t turn out the way I had imagined; not even close. But what matters most is this: I made it through.

This year tested patience, plans, and perspective. There were moments when it felt like everything that could go wrong was lining up neatly to do just that. And yet, when I step back and look at the year in its entirety, I don’t see only the stumbles. I see movement. I see work. I see persistence.

Against all odds (and often against my own doubts), 2025 became one of my busiest creative years.

Despite having to juggle between my fulltime job and writing, three books found their way into the world ; each in a completely different genre:

Each launch came with its own challenges, lessons, and quiet victories. Alongside that, I sent out three submissions, still waiting to hear back, published over 50 articles across Medium, Substack, and my blog, made some wonderful new connections while holding on to old, precious ones (something I am very proud of), and above all, I visited India and met my family! Just writing that out makes me pause for a second. Phew. It really was a busy year.

Were there more misses than hits? Absolutely. But this isn’t the space for tallying disappointments. Those can stay behind, packed away with the lessons they came with. This reflection is about the hits; the proof that even in a year that didn’t go according to plan, progress still happened.

What brings me the most relief, and honestly the most pride, is this: despite everything swirling around me, I never stopped pursuing storytelling the way I wanted to. I didn’t abandon the craft. I didn’t dilute the passion. I stayed true to the voice that first made me fall in love with writing.

And that, to me, is the greatest achievement of 2025.

So, here’s my takeaway from the year in a nutshell: Do what you love. Do it passionately. Do it unapologetically. Because that is exactly what defines you.

Here’s to fresh pages, renewed zing, and a year ahead filled with courage, creativity, and stories waiting to be told.

Cheers to the upcoming year. 🥂
