Author Jasveer Singh Dangi has announced his upcoming novel Camera on His Shoulder, describing it as his next passion project and confirming that the book is coming soon. The novel follows private investigator Pat Shah, a man who has spent years pursuing other people’s secrets across India, from Bombay’s piers to the back alleys of old Delhi.

Jasveer is an author, cinema enthusiast, and facilitator who views storytelling as central to connection, communication, and entertainment. His immersive writing brings historical landscapes vividly to life, weaving them into tales of intrigue and danger, a style that perfectly aligns with the atmospheric world-building of Camera on His Shoulder.

The new novel introduces a mystery with an unusual narrative presence: the voice telling Pat Shah’s story appears detached, precise, and almost mechanical; this unseen watcher seems to record his every move. This premise positions the book as both a detective story and a meditation on observation, perspective, and the uneasy distance between seeing and understanding.

Early reader response has already signaled strong interest in the book’s tone and execution. In a pre-release endorsement, author Moitrayee Bhaduri writes that there are “stories that entertain, and then there are stories that watch you as you read them,” placing Camera on His Shoulder firmly in the latter category. She praises the novel’s observational power, its textured 1980s Indian setting, and Dangi’s “technical precision and emotional restraint,” while describing Pat Shah as a compelling investigator shaped by instinct, experience, and moral ambiguity.

Goodreads-linked commentary associated with Dangi’s earlier work has also praised his narrative strengths, calling his storytelling intriguing, lucid, and powered by strong imagination. Together, these responses point to a writing style marked by immersive settings, careful detail, and a deliberate unfolding of mystery rather than hurried twists.

Set in 1980s India, Camera on His Shoulder promises a noir-inflected journey through smoky cinemas, crowded docks, dim offices, and layered secrets, with Pat Shah at the centre of a case shaped as much by perception as by evidence. With its blend of suspense, atmosphere, and psychological tension, the novel is positioned to appeal to readers of literary crime fiction and reflective noir.

Camera on His Shoulder by Jasveer Singh Dangi launches worldwide on Amazon June 1, 2026, and hits select Indigo stores in and around Scarborough, Ontario. The ebook will also be available worldwide on all major platforms.
