My wife, Manpreet Kalyan, the creative force behind many of our family’s artistic ventures, has been part of my writing journey from the very beginning. She illustrated the images for my debut book, Version One and a Half, and continues to explore her artistic side through her creative page, Crazy4Cards (Instagram), where she shares her handmade art and other creations.
I have always been a huge comic book enthusiast. In fact, one of my long-standing ambitions has been to create a comic book featuring a fictional Sikh character. We initially set out to develop enough material for a comic book, but as things turned out, the storyline had a mind of its own! It eventually evolved into a novella.
Fast forward to today: the novella is going through its final rounds of editing, and the cover illustration, another beautiful hand-drawn creation by my wife, has finally taken shape.
It’s wonderful to see an idea that started as a comic book concept gradually evolve into something much bigger, with both of us contributing our creativity to bring it to life.
